WATER TREATMENT OPERATOR I /OPERATOR TRAINEE

SOUTH GRANVILLE WATER AND SEWER AUTHORITY (SGWASA)

SGWASA is a unit of local government operating a water and sewer system located in southern Granville County. SGWASA has an opening for a Water Treatment Operator I/Operator Trainee. Salary range for an Operator I is $30,172 to $44,654. The starting salary for an Operator trainee is $28,663. The desired applicant will operate the treatment plant on their assigned shift. Work involves performing routine laboratory test, performing routine maintenance, monitoring the water system and making adjustments to pumps to ensure that water quality and water quantity complies with rules and regulations as set forth by SGWASA, the State and EPA. Desired education and experience would be graduation from high school with some course work in chemistry, biology, or course work related to water treatment and some experience in the operation of a water treatment plant; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Possession of a Grade C Water treatment operator's certificate from the State of North Carolina is preferred, but will consider a trainee capable of obtaining certification within eighteen (18) months of employment.

LEAD WATER TREATMENT OPERATOR

SOUTH GRANVILLE WATER AND SEWER AUTHORITY (SGWASA)

SGWASA is a unit of local government operating a water and sewer system located in southern Granville County.  SGWASA has an opening for a Lead Water Treatment Operator with a salary range of $38,507.00 to $54,278.00.  The desired applicant will be responsible for supervising the total operation of the water treatment plant for the Authority. Work involves supervision over laboratory, maintenance, and operational staff, purchasing parts and supplies, distributing and reviewing work, and personnel management duties including hiring, performance evaluation, coaching, and safety.  As well as, assisting the Chief Plant Operator as backup ORC, the employee is responsible to the State and EPA for compliance with rules and regulations. 

Desired education and experience would be graduation from a two year college with a major in chemistry, biology, or major related to water treatment and considerable experience in the operation of a water treatment plant with some supervisory experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.  Possession of a Grade "B" Surface Water treatment operator's certificate from the State of North Carolina.  Also Certification at a Grade I Physical/Chemical water pollution control system by the State of North Carolina or must be able to obtain within 18 months.

PUBLIC UTILITY WORKER/PUBLIC UTILITY WORKER TRAINEE

SGWASA is a unit of local government operating a water and sewer system located in southern Granville County.  SGWASA has an opening for a Public Utility Worker I/Public Utility Worker Trainee. Salary range for a Public Utility Worker is $28,736 to $46,887.The starting salary for a Public Utility Worker Trainee is $27,325.The desired applicant performs a variety of unskilled and semi-skilled work in water and sewer line maintenance and repair.  Work involves manual labor and the operation of tools and equipment in performing assigned tasks.  Employees are subject to working in both inside and outside environments, in extreme temperatures, and are exposed to various hazards such as loud noises, vibration, moving mechanical parts, electrical current, chemicals, fumes, odors, dusts, mists, gases, poor ventilation, and oils.  Work around sewage subjects those employees to the OSHA bloodborne pathogen requirements. Employees may also be subject to on-call and callback work.  Desired education and experience would be graduation from high school and/or capable of receiving a GED within a one-year period.  Possession of CDL, Grade C Water Distribution, Grade I Wastewater Collection, or Cross Connection Control/Backflow certification issued by the State of North Carolina is preferred, but will consider a trainee capable of obtaining certification within eighteen (18) months of employment. SGWASA is a unit of local government operating a water and sewer system located in southern Granville County.  SGWASA has an opening for a Pump Station Equipment Mechanic Helper with a salary range of $28,736.00 to $42,529.00. The desired applicant performs a variety of difficult skilled and unskilled work in water distribution and wastewater collection systems.  Work involves the responsibility for maintaining and assisting with the repair of pump stations, motors, chemical pumps, and other related system equipment.  Employees are subject to working in both inside and outside environments, in extreme temperatures, and are exposed to various hazards such as loud noises, vibration, moving mechanical parts, electrical current, chemicals, fumes, odors, dusts, mists, gases, poor ventilation, and oils.  Work around sewage subjects those employees to the OSHA blood borne pathogen requirements. Employees may also be subject to on-call and callback work.  Desired education and experience would be graduation from high school and/or capable of receiving a GED within a one-year period. Work requires some knowledge of trade skills in mechanical and plumbing areas.  Applicant must possess a valid North Carolina driver's license.

SGWASA is a unit of local government operating a water and sewer system located in southern Granville County.  SGWASA has an opening for a Pump Station Equipment Mechanic with a salary range of $33,264.00 to $49,231.00. 

The desired applicant performs a variety of difficult technical and skilled work in water distribution/wastewater collection systems.  Work involves journey level work in the operation, maintenance, and repair of large and specialized equipment and machinery in the wastewater collection/water distribution systems.  Employees are subject to working in both inside and outside environments, in extreme temperatures, and are exposed to various hazards such as loud noises, vibration, moving mechanical parts, electrical current, chemicals, fumes, odors, dusts, mists, gases, poor ventilation, and oils.  Work around sewage subjects those employees to the OSHA bloodborne pathogen requirements. Employees may also be subject to on-call and callback work.  Desired education and experience would be graduation from high school and/or capable of receiving a GED within a one-year period.  Prefer Wastewater Collections I certification, or the ability to obtain within a specified time frame.  Experience in electricity/electronic controls and pump maintenance/repair is a plus.  Applicant must possess a valid North Carolina driver's license.
